About Professional Development

Network aims to provide OOSH specific, accessible and affordable professional
development and learning opportunities to the OOSH and Vacation Care sectors.
We target our professional development programs to those working with primary
school aged children in out of school hours care, recreation and creative play
environments.

Network has over 46 years of experience and specialised knowledge in the
provisions of professional development to all parts of the OOSH sector including
management committees and Educators. We have played a lead role in the
development of appropriate training and educational programs for OOSH services in
NSW as well as nationally through our place on the National Out of School Hours
Alliance (NOSHSA).

Network is committed to providing professional development that:

  • reflects current sector issues
  • addresses identified skill needs of the sector
  • provides participants with support to improve their knowledge and practices
  • meets the professional development needs of members
  • provides ‘fit for purpose’ and industry relevant training
  • develops the professionalism of the OOSH sector

Network provides professional development programs through a variety of flexible delivery modes to cater for the split shift nature of OOSH work, location of centres and rural and regional services. We utilise webinars, face to face training, self directed learning, pre-recorded sessions, virtual gatherings and mixed mode delivery to ensure programs are accessible to all. Network also offers customised training options to assist services address their specific training needs.

Network is a registered training organisation (RTO 90537) that specialises in providing qualifications specific to Out of School Hours (OOSH). We offer a range of qualifications in School Aged Education and Care field, including  full qualifications (when there is demand) and individual units, as well as skill sets and micro-credentials. The full qualifications available are:
  • CHC50213 Diploma of School Age Education and Care
  • CHC40113 Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care (now superseded)For information regarding Network’s current training offerings and professional development programs, including schedules, course details, and booking information, please refer to the Training Calendar section of this website. All participants enrolled in accredited training are strongly encouraged to review the Learners Handbook. This document contains essential terms and conditions, details about learners’ rights, the code of conduct, and outlines the responsibilities and rights of Network as the training provider.
