National Science Week 2024

This week between 10 August and 18 August, OOSH centres, schools, libraries, museums and other public spaces across the country will take part in National Science Week. Following the theme Species Survival – More Than Just Sustainability, this year aims to raise awareness of the science and innovation ensuring the survival and thriving of different species.

We encourage educators to use this as an opportunity to get children outside and absorbed within the local natural environment. Download the free Species Survival resource book for activity and games ideas.

From Science Fairs to guided bush walks, discover a host of free local or online events in New South Wales with this interactive map – as part of the Australian Museum’s Science Trail, you can even learn about the endangered Blue Banded Bee at the PlantingSeeds stall and take part in fun activities created by Network’s own Alex Zimbicki!

You can also decorate your OOSH centre with the 2024 Species Survival – More than just sustainability A3 poster, available to download and print.
