ABOUT US:
Leichhardt Out of School Hours (LOOSH) is a parent-run not for profit organisation, established in 1988 in the
grounds of Leichhardt Public School, which strives to provide quality out of school hours care to school age
children in our community. Approximately 500 families rely on LOOSH to provide Before School, After School &
Vacation Care at Leichhardt Public School & After School Care at St. Fiacre’s Primary School.

THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Coordinator to plan, implement and evaluate programs with a team of Educators to
contribute to a child’s wellbeing, learning and development in a school age care setting. This is a lead
Coordinator position based on site at St Fiacre’s Primary School, in which the individual will have the
responsibly of managing the service and act as Nominated Supervisor. Working with a supportive and engaged
Director and Educational Leader based on the premises of Leichhardt Public School, the individual will have the
ability create a fun, safe and memorable environment for children.

THE RESPONSIBILITES:

  •  Lead cycle of planning guided by School Aged Care Framework ‘My Time, My Place’ and Learning
    Outcomes
  • Design and implement programs in line with the Organisational and Educational Strategy
  • Assign program planning to team of Educators giving guidance, instruction and setting expectations
  • Support and mentor Educators with the creation of programs and planned activities, giving feedback
    on evaluation on both programs and on the job performance
  • Responsible for Educators understanding their allocation and having the ability and tools to
    implement their planned programs
  • Actively engage and supervise children supporting interests, spontaneous play and leisure
    experiences
  • Establish and maintain a safe, secure and inclusive environment for children
  • Adhere to and comply with practices, policies and procedures in line with legislation, licensing and
    accreditation requirements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with families, relevant school, community and support agencies
  • Complete objectives and performance management appraisals for Educators, giving ongoing feedback
    on performance and expectations.
  • Actively involved in the development of QIP goals, with responsibility for one of the seven quality
    areas.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Passion for working with children and experience with school aged children essential
  • Completed or currently pursuing a childcare/education qualification desirable
  • Working with Children Check (NSW), First Aid Certificate, Child Protection Training, CPR, Anaphylaxis
    and Asthma Certificates (or willing to obtain)
  • Knowledge and understanding of National Quality Framework and OOSH care standards, policies and
    procedures
  • Experience in cycle of planning and implementation essential
  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of systems: Qikkids preferable
    Euthanistic with a willingness to learn
  • Quick comprehension and ability to follow directions and deliver programs with a sense of fun,
    imagination and awareness
  • Strong communication skills working with children, parents and families
  • Strong teamwork skills to learn and assist the Education team.
