Providing Quality Childcare for school age children

We seek a Responsible Person and permanent and casual Educators.

The Centre @ Westmead is an Out of School Hours Care Centre (OOSH) catering for children between the ages of 5 years and 12 years.  Our focus is on the importance of Play in the middle childhood.

Our Centre was established in 1981 by a group of working parents from both Westmead Primary School and Sacred Heart Primary School, who dedicated their time and effort into developing a quality outside school hours childcare service.

Our Centre is licenced for 120 children.

We collect children from Westmead Primary only, due to the high demand for Care.

We provide age-appropriate care for aftercare. Years K-3 are at Block K and Years 4 – 6 are at another part of the school.

The Centre is open Monday to Friday 7am to 9am and 3pm to 6:30pm during the school terms. We are closed on public holidays and school holidays.

We do not offer Vacation Care. Close to public transport.

A Responsible Person and permanent and casual Educators are required.

Responsible Person

Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma in Outside school hours Care or similar
  • Current approved First Aid training with approved anaphylaxis and emergency asthma training
  • Approved Child Protection Training
  • min 2-3 years experience in OOSH
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Able to implement strong problem-solving techniques in dealing with challenging situations.
  • Have a sound working knowledge of My Time Our Place, the National Quality Framework, and the National Quality Standards
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, be well organised and reliable.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to motivate staff and foster a positive team environment.
  • Have a Food handlers Certificate and or Food supervisor Certificate.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Agree and be willing to be placed in day-to-day charge of the Centre as a Responsible Person (as per roster).
  • Ensuring the aims and objectives, policies and procedures of the Centre are implemented.
  • Promote the National Principals for Child Safe Organisation.
  • Be a passionate educator and strive to the absolute best for our Centre’s success and ensure the Centre philosophy is reflected in daily practice.
  • Assists in developing and implementing creative programs to cater for a range of children’s special or behavioural needs.
  • Can assist in providing an inclusive and fun environment. In environment that enables children to be safe, engaged and well supervised,
  • Introduce new families to the service, by conducting enrolment interviews.
  • Be an active and engaging educator when on the floor with the children.
  • Complete reflections, learning stories and participate in the development of the services QIP.
