The Good News Effect

The Good News Effect

We want you to share and help us spread good news this term!

Welcome to another great term in OOSH
Many of us are suffering from negative news fatigue at the moment. In today’s super-communication world we can start to feel very overwhelmed by the quantity of bad news coming in from different platforms and it makes us feel sad!

Good things are happening
But good things are happening all around us and it is important we also make an effort to share these uplifting stories especially with children who can be deeply affected by back news stories constantly.

So with this in mind we share a lovely story this week from Warrawee Care centre and how they go the extra mile to celebrate all the wonderful mothers in their community with an extraordinary community event. Congratulations on this mammoth event and for making your community and especially all the mothers feel extra special!

Let all make an effort this term to spread more good news within our OOSH Community. Please send your stories to the network email. network@networkofcommunityactivities.org.au

Celebrating with our families at Warrawee Care Centre

Our annual Mother’s Day breakfast is happening today and this event has been running for 5 years and gets bigger each year. This year we are expecting over 190 mums, grandmothers, aunts and special people (including some dads and grandads) to join us for a catered breakfast that staff organise and we have 2 baristas to ensure all mums get their coffee of choice!!

Special Children’s Breakfast

Children attend as well and have their own special breakfast menu and families come together for our many activities and to catch up with other families.

After a trip to Sydney Flower Markets bright and early on Wednesday morning, educators have spent the last couple of days prepping flowers so each child can make a small posy of flowers for mum to take home and this is everyone’s favourite part of the morning. We also run a photo booth with a selection of dress ups to choose from and email families their pics afterwards.

Making Time for with our Families

Our event is about celebrating our families and finding the time to slow down and connect and chat with our mums as a usual afternoon doesn’t always allow for this.

As our special guests leave they get to choose a small indoor plant to take home as our gift to them and each year we hear stories about how well the plant they chose last year has grown!  It’s an inspiring and very rewarding way to engage with our families… and an event we look forward to.

Sam Williamson
Warrawee care Centre Director

Congratulations Sam and the whole team at Warrawee Care Centre for going to this extraordinary effort for your families.
