It was truly impressive to witness such a great attendance at the recent “Engaging with Exceeding” session.
The enthusiasm and commitment displayed by participants demonstrated the importance of striving for excellence in OOSH. Currently, just over 7% of services achieve an Exceeding rating among more than 15,000 services across the country.
While this statistic is fairly aligned with the national average, we would like to see an increase in this figure. It is evident that many of you are dedicated to enhancing the quality of your services, and we consistently hear about the outstanding work you are doing in your respective communities.
The session was expertly facilitated by Louise Bolton and Lisa Wilson from the Regulatory Support Team at ACECQA.
Their insights and guidance provided valuable context for understanding the criteria and expectations associated with achieving an Exceeding rating. Attaining an Exceeding rating demands a significant level of commitment and hard work. It is essential that all three themes of the National Quality Standard (NQS) are clearly demonstrated within your service.
This involves not only meeting the standard but also going beyond it, deeply understanding your purpose, and effectively communicating your practices to all stakeholders involved. To support you on this journey toward excellence, there are excellent resources available that can provide guidance and inspiration. We encourage you to explore the recent blog series that delves into the specifics of each theme, offering in-depth information and practical strategies for implementation.
The series includes: Exceeding the NQS series
ACECQA Exceeding NQS Theme 1 – Practice is embedded in service operations
ACECQA Exceeding Theme 2 – Practice is informed by critical reflection
ACECQA Exceeding the NQS: Theme 3 – Practice is shaped by meaningful engagement with families and/or the community
ACECQA – We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to Louise and Lisa for their valuable presentation. Their expertise and passion for Out of School Hours are truly inspiring. We look forward to additional resources being made available on the ACECQA website soon, which will further assist you in your pursuit of excellence.
