ABOUT US:
Leichhardt Out of School Hours (LOOSH) is a parent-run not for profit organisation, established in 1988 in the
grounds of Leichhardt Public School, which strives to provide quality out of school hours care to school age
children in our community. Approximately 500 families rely on LOOSH to provide Before School, After School &
Vacation Care at Leichhardt Public School & After School Care at St. Fiacre’s Primary School.

THE ROLE:
We are seeking an Assistant Coordinator to plan, implement and evaluate programs with a team of Educators
to contribute to a child’s wellbeing, learning and development in a school age care setting. Working with a
supportive and engaged Director and Educational Leader, the individual will have the ability create a fun, safe
and memorable environment for children.

This permanent part time position allows for flexibility in how you work with Before (7.30 to 9.30am) and After
(2.45 to 6pm) School Care Sessions. Our centre operates from Monday to Friday, with further opportunities to
be involved in Vacation Care outside of term time.

THE RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Working with professional Coordinators and Educators who will train and educate you on the service
    and provide strategies for the optimal delivery of programs
  • Create and design programs to be implemented in line with the National Quality Framework ‘My
    Time, Our Place’
  • Provide high quality care when facilitating and delivering programs
  • Support the Coordinator with cycle of planning, allocations and guiding Educators before and during
    service time
  • Provide a hands-on approach to educating children, focusing on child-lead exploration and
    development through play
  • Active supervision and engagement to ensure delivery of planned programs are safe, inclusive and
    most importantly fun!
  • Complete observations and evaluations of the programs for the Coordinators and Families through
    software Kinderloop
  • Support children’s wellbeing and following protocol through incident reporting and compliance
  • Have certification and the ability assist with medical conditions
  • Understand and have the ability to apply behavioural management strategies
  • Build supportive & trusting relationships with children, parents and families
  • Ensure resources are put away and area is clean once the program is complete.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Passion for working with children and experience with school aged children essential
  • Completed or currently pursuing a childcare/education qualification desirable
  • Working with Children Check (NSW) and First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Knowledge and understanding of National Quality Framework and OOSH care standards, policies and
    procedures
  • Experience in cycle of planning and implementation essential
  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of systems: Qikkids preferable
  • Euthanistic with a willingness to learn
  • Quick comprehension and ability to follow directions and deliver programs with a sense of fun,
    imagination and awareness
  • Strong communication skills working with children, parents and families
  • Strong teamwork skills to learn and assist the Education team.
