From July 2nd, the Child Care Benefit and Child Care Cash Rebate will become a single subsidy for parents called the Child Care Subsidy. Under this new system all families will be expected to make financial contribution to their fees. There can be NO zero cost to families.
The new CCS will be paid directly to government approved child care services, reducing the upfront costs of child care for most families. It is important that services have up to date details with the CCMS, as the government will be using these contact detail to walk services through the different steps during the transitional phase. Most of the communication is to the Approved Provider, so make sure you are in close communication to ensure a smooth transition.
NEW Legislation applicable to the new system…
Family Assistance Legislation Amendment (Jobs for Families Child Care Package) Act 2017. To assist services there will be a new handbook on the legal responsibilities for services. It is important that once this is finalised services familiarise themselves with it contents to ensure compliance. The draft is now available and the government welcomes feedback from services about it. education.gov.au/transitioning-new-child-care-package
