Award Updates

Network OOSH Specific Pay Summary Ready to download.

There was a 3.3% pay increase to the national Children’s Services Award, which took effect from the first pay period on or after 1 July.

Network has updated its OOSH specific pay summary table which can be found in the members sector of the website.


Information for Educators – it is a legal requirement

All services should have a copy of the relevant award (National Children’s Service’s award in the majority of situations) and a copy of National Employment Standards for Educators to access on site. This can be in hard or soft copy (if in soft copy on an accessible computer)


Casual Employee Definition

  • A casual employee is an Educator engaged for temporary and relief
  • A casual employee will be paid a minimum of two hours pay for each engagement
  • A casual employee may, by mutual agreement, be paid weekly or at the termination of each engagement.

Remember if an Educator has a regular pattern of work they are not considered CASUAL….



Recent changes… If you are a NFP service not operating in a school there you can potentially apply for funding out of this fund. The grant must be used to increase the number of children you take, and you will have to apply to amend your service approval. If you meet criteria Network, can assist you & guide you through the application process.

Network is also keen to work with organisation that may have ideas or initiatives they want to put place to meet the demand in their area. Lets think about creative solutions to meeting the ongoing demand of families wanting access to OOSH services. There needs to be better ways of doing things in different areas.


Compliance (CCMS)

It is a requirement that all Child Care Benefit (CCB) approved services notify the department of changes to their service as determined by family assistance law. These changes are referred to as Notifiable Events.

  • Change to services legal identity
  • Bank account details
  • Changes to key staff or management
  • Closure of a service (this requires 42 days notice)

AMU Update

Licence Agreements – Category A & B services should be aware that they need to notify the School Principal if they wish to renew their licence agreement six month prior to expiry.

If you increase your numbers, services need to request to do a variation to their licence agreement.
